PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic. (February 2018) – The Corales Golf Course located inside the prestigious Puntacana Resort & Club complex has been officially announced as the new home for the PGA TOUR in the Dominican Republic beginning this upcoming season. The Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship will debut on March 19th to the 25th, 2018. All players will be competing to win 300 FedExCup points in first place and US$3 million in prize money.

Through a new four-year agreement, Grupo Puntacana, which owns and runs Puntacana Resort & Club, will serve as the host for this high-status event. “We are extremely pleased to have this unique opportunity to elevate an outstanding tournament from the Web.com Tour to the PGA TOUR,” said Andy Pazder, PGA TOUR Chief Tournament and Competitions Officer. “With the tournament structure in place and a world-class golf course and resort in the Dominican Republic, the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship presents an exciting new playing alternative for our members. We look forward to working with Grupo Puntacana toward the debut in March.”

“Hosting the very first PGA TOUR tournament in the Dominican Republic is an honor both for Puntacana Resort & Club and for the Dominican Republic itself,” said Frank Rainieri, Chairman and Founder, Grupo Puntacana. “This is an affirmation of the exceptional golf facilities we have down here, and we are thrilled to present ourselves to the international golf community.”

Designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2010, Corales is an exclusive and dramatic 18-hole course with six Caribbean ocean-side holes. Designed along the natural cliffs, bays, ocean coves and the inland lakes and coralina quarries, Corales Golf Course rates among the world’s finest golf experiences. The exhilarating challenge culminates playing the Devil’s Elbow, Corales’ last three holes. The Devil’s Elbow features the striking eighteenth hole with a dramatic forced carry over the cliff lined bay of Corales, an inspired capstone to a memorable and breathtaking golf experience.
